Remote DSC — user manual

Install Remote DSC, connect the User to the Holder, and use each function. The DSC token stays with the holder. The professional signs from their own Windows PC after the holder approves the request.

This software is for Windows PCs only. It supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. It will not work on older versions of Windows or on any other operating system.

1. Who uses which software

Remote DSC has two desktop applications. They are installed on two different PCs.

  • Remote DSC Holder (free) — install on the PC where the DSC USB token remains inserted. The holder generates a User ID and password and approves each request.
  • Remote DSC User (paid) — install on the professional’s PC. Use this to open portals, register DSC remotely, sign forms, and use utilities. Buttons become active only after a successful connection.
The User does not need the DSC token on their PC. The token stays with the holder.

2. Install and licence

1Download

Download Remote DSC Holder from Product & pricing. After purchase, download Remote DSC User from My account → Download software.

2Choose the edition

  • Remote DSC Holder — free. Install on the token PC.
  • Remote DSC User — Single User — one professional / one PC. Enter the licence key from My account after purchase.
  • Remote DSC User — LAN Server — one office server PC. Enter the purchased LAN licence key here. Other office PCs use LAN Client and do not need their own key.
  • Remote DSC User — LAN Client — free on other office PCs, only after LAN Server is installed and activated on the same office network.

3Complete Windows setup

Run the installer and finish the wizard. Windows may ask for permission to install. If Windows shows a security prompt, choose More info → Run anyway when the publisher is Hetrim Innovations. You do not need to run the Remote DSC app as Administrator after it is installed. Do not share licence keys or Holder passwords with anyone who is not authorised.

4Office LAN — install LAN Server first

Skip this step if you bought Single User. For an office, install Remote DSC User — LAN Server on one PC only. Open the app as a normal user. In Settings, enter the LAN licence key and click Activate. Wait until the licence shows as active. Keep this PC switched on and on the office network. It shares the licence with the other PCs.

5Office LAN — then install LAN Client

Only after step 4 is done, install Remote DSC User — LAN Client on each staff PC. The Client does not enter a licence key. In Settings, keep Use license from LAN Server selected. Use Auto, or type the LAN Server PC’s IPv4 address (for example 192.168.1.20). Do not type 127.0.0.1 on the Client — that is the Client PC itself, not the Server.

Server and Client PCs must be on the same office LAN or Wi‑Fi. After the Client can reach the Server, continue from section 3 to connect User to Holder. A longer office walkthrough is in Install Remote DSC User — LAN Server & LAN Client.

3. Connect User to Holder

Holder PC

1Start Holder and insert the DSC

Open Remote DSC Holder. Insert the DSC token. Keep the token connected while work is in progress.

Wait for the DSC name. Once the DSC is inserted, wait until Holder shows the name of the person whose DSC is inserted.

2Share the login

After that name is visible, note the User ID (Server ID) and Password shown in the Holder app. Share these only with the authorised professional.

User PC

1Open Settings

Open Remote DSC User. Complete Settings (firm name / professional name as required). For Single User or LAN Server, enter the licence key and activate it.

2Connect

On the main window, enter the Holder User ID and Password, then click Connect.

Wait for the DSC name on User. After Connect, wait until that same DSC name also appears on the User side. Do not start portal or signing work yet.
Start work only after the DSC name is visible on both Holder and User. Then you may use MCA, Income Tax, GST and other functions.

4. How every sign request works

For portal signing, DSC registration and related work, the same pattern applies:

  1. On the User PC, click the required button (for example Register DSC on MCA or Sign MCA Form).
  2. The portal, software or form opens on the User PC. Log in where needed and continue the work.
  3. When you click Sign (or complete signing), an approval message goes to the Holder. On the Holder PC, the request appears in the Holder app (not a separate browser popup).
  4. The holder chooses Accept (or Allow) to complete the sign or registration, or Cancel (or Deny) to stop. The holder may cancel before the DSC is used.
  5. After approval, the work is completed on the User PC. The holder can see where and how the DSC is being used. A record is kept in the audit trail.
If a local signing helper is already running on the User PC, Remote DSC may ask you to stop it so remote signing can use the holder’s DSC. Follow the on-screen message, then continue.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Buttons are inactive — connect to the Holder first. Confirm User ID, password, and that Holder is running with the token inserted.
  • Waiting for holder — ask the holder to Accept on their PC. They can Cancel if the request should not proceed.
  • Cannot connect — both PCs need internet. Close extra Holder windows (only one session per Holder ID). Try again after a few seconds.
  • Wrong desktop software opened — use Reset the Income tax/TDS/GST software path, then select the correct program.
  • LAN Client cannot start — complete LAN Server install and activation first (section 2, steps 4 then 5). Both PCs must be on the same office network. On the Client, enter the Server PC’s IPv4, not 127.0.0.1. See the LAN install guide.
  • Windows version — use Windows 10 or Windows 11 only.

10. Support

If you need help, contact Hetrim with the edition (Holder, Single User, LAN Server or LAN Client), the software version, and a short description of what you clicked and what happened.
